How to Create a Paypal Account

PayPal
January 19th, 2014

Paypal is a highly useful and widely used online payment gateway. So, if you aren’t using Paypal yet for your business, now’s definitely a good time to start. Doing so is really pretty easy. Here are the steps:

1. Go to the Paypal website and click on the sign-up button located at the upper right corner of the home page.

2. Once you are on the sign-up page, you will see two selections: one for a Personal Account, and one for a Business Account.

Choose the Business Account so that you will be able to accept all major credit cards online or at the register, as well as to send secure invoices to your customers.

Click on “Continue” to proceed.

3. The next page will present you with two types of Payment Solutions: Standard and Pro.

Paypal Payments Standard will cost you nothing, yet it will allow you to:

• Accept credit cards (Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover) and PayPal on your website (this gives buyers the ease and security of paying you directly from their PayPal account).

• Swipe cards on your mobile device.

• Accept card payments in person with Paypal’s new mobile plug-in card reader.

• Send an invoice in minutes, then quickly update the details for your next customer. They get your invoice in their email and they’ll simply need to click the payment button so they can send funds over to you.

• Get paid on eBay.

With Paypal Payments Pro, you’ll need to pay $30 per month. This will give you all the features of Paypal Payments Standard, as well as enable you to:

• Design and host your own checkout pages for full control.
• Accept credit cards via phone, fax, and mail.

Choose “Standard” and click on “Get Started.”

4. On the next page, you’ll see the Sign-up for a Business Account page. Create a log-in by entering your email. Then enter a password of your choosing. Your password needs to have at least 8 characters, and at least one number or symbol. As a safety precaution, your Paypal password must be different from your email password. Also, do not use anything that can be closely identified with you, such as your birthday. For example, if you were born on April 16, 1980 and your name is Ed, do not use this kind of password: edapril41680

Such tips are very important and should be followed if you are trying to learn how to create a Paypal account for your business.

5. Under the password field is another field where you have to enter your password again. The password in the first field and the password in this second field need to be the same. Be careful about typos.

6. Next, enter your business contact information, inclusive of your:

• legal first name
• legal last name
• business name
• business phone
• business street address (PO Box numbers are not allowed)
• zip code (after entering this, you can enter your City and State)

7. Click on “Agree and Continue” to agree to all of the following: the PayPal User Agreement, Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, The Electronic Communications Delivery Policy.

If you’re asked to answer a security challenge – a captcha – do so correctly and you’re done!

Learning how to create a Paypal account for business is easy and straightforward. Besides, if you do encounter problems when setting up your account, you can always contact Paypal’s customer support.
